The Mariannes of Levallois Paris-Saint Cloud won 3 sets to 1 against the Hungarian team Vasas on Tuesday in the first leg of the CEV Cup quarterfinals.
Third in the French Championship, Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud's Mariannes performed well in their trip to Budapest. They won 3 sets to 1 against Hungary's Vasas in the CEV Cup, Europe's second club competition.
Alessandro Orefice's players got off to a bad start, losing the first set. But they won the second and third sets with greater control, making the difference in the middle of the set to hold off the Hungarians. The fourth set was very close, but the Parisian team held on to win (14-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20). This was an important point, as the Mariannes will now need to win "only" two sets next week to secure their place in the final four.
